PURPOSE:To prevent the trouble due to an error in the attachment of a toner recovery container securely with simple constitution by generating a artificial signal for toner fullness unless the toner recovery container is attached. CONSTITUTION:When the recovery container 18 is set in a device, a light shield plate 23 is moved by the toner recovery container 18 and light from a lamp 19 illuminates a photodetecting element 20 through a window 21a. When the container is not full of toner 25, the lamp light reaches the photodetcting element 20 through the light transmissive toner recovery container 18 and the machine body gets ready to perform copying operation. When toner is contained in the toner container 18 up t a specific position and higher, the light from the lamp 18 does not reach the photodetecting element 20 any more, and when the toner container 18 is not attached, the light from the lamp 19 is cut off by the light shield plate 23, thereby disallowing the machine body to enter copying operation. |
