摘要 Hydrodynamic torque converters arranged in the drive of vehicles are generally used purely as starting converters and, to avoid slip-related losses, are bridged by means of a clutch after the conclusion of the starting phase. The engagement and disengagement of the bridging clutch is generally effected by subjecting the actuating piston of the bridging clutch to hydrostatic pressure. The known hydraulic systems used for this purpose are relatively complex and considerable losses occur in the provision of the pressure fluid. In order to achieve a structurally simpler and more economically operating hydraulic system which moreover leads to more rapid engagement of the bridging clutch, the actuating piston of the bridging clutch in bridging mode is a) loaded solely by spring force and b) provided with a longitudinal bore of a very small diameter and c) it is ensured that the pressure built up in the converter upon engagement of the bridging clutch is reduced rapidly. <IMAGE>
