The invention relates to an edge band (1) produced from a pliable plastic. For the production of the edge band (1), a mould (2) is used which is adapted to the dimensions and the geometrical shape of the edge band (1) to be produced. The interior surfaces of the mould (2) can be polished or provided with a surface structure (3F), which is constructed inversely to the desired surface structure (3) of the edge band (1). According to the invention the mould (2) is filled with a polyurethane, the base material of which is provided with an additive material, which achieves the effect that the plastic has a hard, a semi-hard or a soft composition after drying. Before filling into the mould (2), a colorant can be added to the plastic, so that after its completion the edge band (1) has the same colour as the furniture article. Furthermore, there is the possibility of filling the polyurethane directly into the mould (2) and staining the edge band (1) or the plastic forming it after drying. <IMAGE>
