Fluoro-phenoxy benzyl cyanohydrine(I) is prepared from phenoxy benzaldehyde(IV) by means of alkali metal cyanide in the presence of acid such as HCl, H2SO4, acetic acid, or formic acid, and solvent such as water, alcohol, ether, or nitrile under -5 - 20≦̸C temperature and atmospheric pressure. Suitable (IV) is 5-phenoxy-4-fluoro- benzaldehyde, 5-phenoxy-2-fluoro-benzaldehyde, or 3-fluoro-5-pheoxy- benzaldehyde. The product is used as an intermediate in substituted phenoxy benzyl oxycarbonyl derivatives manufacturing.
