PURPOSE:To improve distance resolution and measuring accuracy, by stepping the display of a running distance meter every time the counted value of distance pulses reaches a predetermined reference value, and updating the reference value every time the display is stepped up. CONSTITUTION:When an automobile runs, distance pulses generated by a distance sensor 1 are counted by a pulse counter 2. The counted value is compared with a reference value by a comparator 3. When the counted number of the pulse counter 2 becomes 5, the comparator 3 generates an output signal, and a decimal counter 4 is stepped up. As a result, zero at the lowest digit in the decimal counter 4 becomes 1, indicating the running of 10 meters. A reference value generator 5 reads the distance pulse corresponding to, e.g., the running distance of 20 meter, from a correcting table 6, and outputs the pulse to the comparator 3 as a reference value after the half-adjustment. Hereinafter, the reference value is sequentially updated. |
