The invention relates to a safety device in which each road user (2, 3, 5 and 6) is equipped with an interrogation device (9). Response devices (10) are arranged at a defined distance from one another in the covering of roads (4), pavements (8), between rails and in embankment walls (8a) of water courses. Using the interrogation devices (9), the information items stored in the response devices (10) can be interrogated. The response devices (10) are supplied with power from the interrogation devices (9). In particular, all interrogation devices (9) are equipped with a power transmitter (20). The response devices (10) exhibit a power receiver (30). The data received from the interrogation devices (9) are forwarded to one or a number of centres (11) which are equipped with at least one computer for evaluating these information items. <IMAGE>
