A lifting platform has a platform (16) attached to a vehicle via a support device (17, 18, 30), which platform (16) experiences a particular movement procedure due to the signals of a drive circuit. Starting from the uppermost horizontal position of the platform (16) the said platform (16) is initially lowered when the closing movement is initiated, then turned in a closing direction and finally raised again. As a result a platform (16) with a sharply bevelled edge can be used and it is possible to insert the run-up edge (K) of the platform directly into a closure device (40) during the final raising movement. The lifting platform according to the application can be used on all vehicles, in particular for loading and unloading lorries. <IMAGE>
