A spur-wheel change gear box, in particular for motor vehicles, has two gearbox input shafts (9, 10), which are arranged coaxially with one another and to each of which is assigned a shiftable clutch (7, 8) for connecting the gearbox input shafts alternately to an engine output shaft (5), and has fixed wheels (14, 16, 18, 20) held on the gearbox input shafts. In order to obtain as compact a construction of this spur-wheel change gear box as possible, at least two fixed wheels should be arranged on at least one of the gear box input shafts. Furthermore, loose wheels (15, 17, 19, 21), each of which meshes with a fixed wheel and can be connected via shiftable clutch devices (27, 31) to a gear box output shaft (11) arranged parallel to the gear box input shafts (9, 10), should be held rotatably on the said gear box output shaft. Finally, two adjacent loose wheels (15, 17), of which one (15) meshes with a fixed wheel (14) of one gear box input shaft (10) and the other (17) meshes with a fixed wheel (16) of the other gear box input shaft (9) should be connected together to form a rigid loose-wheel unit (26). <IMAGE>
