PURPOSE:To recover valuable components in waste liquor, by carbonating an alkali waste liquor containing mercaptans, introducing an inert gas into it to expel the mercaptans, carrying out CO2 absorption reaction. CONSTITUTION:90-120wt% based on theoretical amount required for carbonization of alkali components in waste liquor of CO2(-containing) gas is introduced in to an alkali waste liquor containing alkali sulfide, alkali hydrosulfide or caustic alkali, and methyl mercaptan, and ethyl mercaptan, the alkali components are carbonized until the reaction ratio reaches 81-85%, the reaction mixtur is heated to >=35 deg.C with stirring, an inert gas is introduced to it, and most of the mercaptans are expelled out of the system. Then the CO2(-containing) gas is introduced into it, to give a solution containing alkali hydrosulfide and alkali carbonate or a mixed solution containing alkali hydrosulfide and alkali carbonate, having slurry comprising alkali carbonate or alkali bicarbonate alone or a mixture of them.
