A changeover switch for an on-load tap changer comprises a main arcing roller contact 33 for arc interruption upon tap changing, and a current-carrying roller contact 34 coaxial with said main arcing roller contact, for current-carrying in normal operation, mounted on a common current-carrying bushing (34), rotatably extending through the axes of said roller contacts and providing a current-carrying path upon tap changing and current-carrying; a roller contact holder 36 supports opposite ends of said bushing and accommodates both said main arcing roller contact and said current-carrying roller contact. The roller contacts may comprise an integral body with an arc-resistant layer in the arcing contact region.
