PURPOSE:To correctly discriminate obverse from reverse by disposing a reflex type fiber sensor along the normal of a work strained face at a position shifted by a designated angle with respect to the work transport direction in an obverse and reverse discriminating device for a ring-shaped work like a circle lip. CONSTITUTION:When a work W is transported with its obverse up, an (a) point of a strained face of the work W crosses the center line Y of a reflect type fiber sensor 3b. At this time, a ray of light of a projecting portion 3c is reflected on the strained face Wa at the (a) point to incide upon a photo detecting portion 3d, so that a photo detecting signal is generated. Detecting light 3d of reflected light when the center line y of the sensor 3b passes the point (a) of the strained face Wa is generated once at the moment when the normal of the strained face Wa is aligned with the center line Y of the sensor. Accordingly, obverse and reverse can be correctly discriminated from each other according to the existence of the detected ray of light 3d. |
