摘要 <p>Repairing eroded zones in ingot moulds. The eroded zone (a) is cleaned and filled with an exothermic mass (b) producing metal (b1); mass (b) is ignited so metal (b1) fills zone (a) and solidifies corresp. with the original mould dimensions. Prior to igniting mass (b), the mould is pref. heated to 37.8-204.4 degrees C. After ignition, the mass is pref. enclosed in zone (a). Mass (b) pref. contains Al wollastonite, Fe-Si, MnO2 fine iron scale, and graphite, the Al reacting with the iron scale. the solidified metal (b1) is pref. covered by a protective metal coating (c) obtd. by deposition via a welding rod. The pref. mass (b) contains 16-22 esp. 16% Al; 14-20 esp. 14% wollastonite; 3-6 esp. 3% Fe-Si; 4-8 esp. 4% MnO2; 40-60, esp. 60% iron scale; and 3-4 esp. 3% graphite. Used to repair ingot moulds which were previously scrapped when eroded.</p>
