<p>A bobbin on which a yarn package is wound for dyeing has two end flanges between which extends a frame of transverse elements e.g. in the form of a series of concentric rings of a helical filament. The transverse elements are sepd. by two types of axial struts. One type of strut is rigid and strong and confers axial stability to the bobbin. The other is flexible and breaks under a predetermined axial force. The bobbin is designed for use with different types of handling devices. If too great an axial force is applied the bobbin collapses without damaging the package. The bobbin is sufficiently cheap to be disposed of if broken.</p> |
