Growth stimulating feed additive contg. nitrovine - microencapsulated in a protective colloid to reduce loss of activity during processing

Feed additive (A) consists of solid particles of nitrovine (I; 1,5-bis(5-nitro-2-furyl)-1,4-pentadien-3-one-amidino-hydrazone hydrochloride) microencapsulated in an edible, film-forming, hydrophilic colloid (II) which does not interfere with digestion of (I) by animals. (II) is esp., gelatine. Feed compsns. for animals contain 5-100 ppm (A) and are esp., in the form of pellets. Pre-mixes contain 2-50 % (A) the balance being a support, esp., powdered CaCo3 plus an anti-dusting additive. Used for stimulating the growth of young animals. When microencapsulated, (I) is more stable and loss of activity during processing is reduced so smalled amts. of (I) can be used for the same effect.
