PURPOSE:To aim at a reduction in unburned hydrocarbon and improvements in output capacity, by making an intersection point between a nozzle hole axis of a fuel injection nozzle and a side wall of a combustion chamber a specified position, while installing a projecting part in an opening part of the combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION:A side wall 19 of a combustion chamber 7 is made up into such a form as opening upward. Depth (h) from a piston upper end face 3a of an intersection point P between each nozzle hole axis of multihole fuel injection nozzles 13 and the side wall 19 of the combustion chamber is set down to an almost nearly half of depth H of the combustion chamber. A projecting part 23 being projected in almost parallel with the piston upper end face 3a is installed in the peripheral edge of an opening part 21 of the combustion chamber 7 whereby an eccentric value in the opening part 21 of the combustion chamber 7 against the center of a piston 3 is decreased. Thus, since penetration of a flame into a clearance combustion chamber 15 is brought to nothing, unburned hydrocarbon is in no case produced. And, what is more, with equalization in a squish stream, output capacity is improvable. |
