PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic coating for magnetic tapes, by sealing a magnetic coating into cylinder having small gaps at one end followed by discharging it through the gaps of a specific level of pressure to effect firm adsorption of dispersant to the magnetic powder, thus enabling said powder to be more homogeneously dispersed in the binder solution. CONSTITUTION:For example, a magnetic coating (e.g. comprising gamma-Fe2O3 and oleic acid) 8 is sealed into the cylinder 2 of dispersion unit 1 having gaps 5, 5 between valve sheets 4, 4 and valve 6. Subsequently, said coating 8 is pressurized at a level of 50kg/cm<2> to rapidly discharge it through the gaps to make it smash to impact ring 5, thus obtaining the objective magnetic coating 9.
