The title compds. I[R1 = R2 = (un)substd. phenyl, (un)substd. pyridyl; A = lower alkylene; R3 = carboxy, (un)substd. lower alkoxy carbonyl, carbamoyl. and their pharmacologically permissible salts are prepd. for use as an antiphlogistic. Thus, 11.1g 2-[4,5-bis-(p- methoxyphenyl)-oxazole-2-yl ethyl acetate, 97.0g ammonia water and 46g formamide are heated 1h at 200≦̸C. after cooling the mixt., via extraction and washing, crystalization of the remains gives 2-[4,5- bis-(p-methoxyphenyl)-imidazole2-yl -acetic acid amide.
