PURPOSE:To make it easy to bring chips out and improve the effectiveness of deep cutting by forming continuous waves with a certain pitch slipped down per blade along the basic curve of the edge outline on the cylinder circumferential surface of a cutting tool. CONSTITUTION:An end mill has wave-like ups and downs g formed along its edge surface having the basic curve expressed by the nth degree curve of f=ax<n> +c, where x is a coordinate expressing the axial direction of the cylindrical section, and a, c, n are constants (c=0, n>1.5). The wave-like ups and downs 9 on the edge surface are formed so that they are slipped down by a certain pitch each time a cutting tool makes one rotation, and the chips are well brought out and the excellent effectiveness is shown in deep cutting. |
