DEVICE FOR SUPPORTING AND GUIDING ROUND BILLET IN CONTINUOUS CASTING

PURPOSE:To make one kind of device usable commonly for all sizes of round billets and to reduce the time for a preparatory plan with the device for guiding and supporting the cast round billet with plural rolls around the billet by disposing one stationary roll and two moving rolls to said device. CONSTITUTION:Plural rolls to be positioned around a round billet A right under a mold M are constituted of three independent rolls 3-5 and in the case of an S type CCM, the outer roll 3 having a radius R of curvature is made of the stationary roll which does not move with respect to the billet A. The remaining two inner rolls having the radius R are made of moving rolls which can move forward and backward with respect to the billet A. The rolls 5, 6 are attached to a moving frame 6. The frame 6 is connected by means of guide bars 7 and guides 8 to a stationary frame 9 and is moved by actuating a screw type moving device 10. The movement is so designed to move the rolls 4, 5 in parallel, by which the positioning for an optional size of the billet A is accomplished.
