PURPOSE:To attain to prolong the breaking life of a drill made of cemented carbide while enhancing abrasion resistance, by immersing the flute part of the drill in a specific solution composition at first before coating polyfluoroethylene. CONSTITUTION:The flute part of a drill made of cemented carbide is at first immersed in a solution prepared by adding 1-100ml of nitric acid, 1-100ml of hydrochloric acid, 0.1-50ml of glacial acetic acid and 0.1-30ml of 30% hydrogen peroxide to 100ml of water or 95% methyl alcohol. In the next step, the flute part after this treatment is coated with polyfluoroethylene or polyfluoropropylene. By this method, the drill is enhanced in abrasion resistance and breaking life thereof is prolonged and the generation of smear is prevented.
