PURPOSE:To attain shrinking with fidelity to an original picture signal by providing a selection control circuit in a picture processing unit such as a facsimile device while executing a processing not leaving a black picture signal in a white picture signal but leaving the white picture signal in the black picture signal. CONSTITUTION:When a shrinking picture signal ba is a [0] picture signal, a selector 2 outputs an input from a terminal 0 of the selector 2 as an output 2a and when the shrinking picture signal ba is a [1] picture signal, the selector 2 outputs an input from a terminal 1 of the selector 2 as the output 2a. Thus, the selector 2 selects an output 12a of an AND gate 12 or an output 13a of an OR gate 13 based on a picture signal before 1-bit in lateral direction of the picture signal in 2-bit to be shrinked and outputs it as the output 2a. Thus, whether an output by the OR gate or an output by the AND gate is selected based on at least one picture signal out of picture signals before and after by one bit in the longitudinal direction of the picture signal data in 2-bit to be shrinked. |
