PURPOSE:To offer easily and inexpensively an image sensor in an industrial way possible for color original reading by forming a filter having a different color at each photodetector array, connecting one end of a switching element at each photodetector, and connecting in common the gate of the switching element at each photodetector array. CONSTITUTION:The light from a whilt light source 16 is reflected on a color original 17 and its reflected light is incident to the photodetector arrays 15A, 15B, 15C arranged in three lines in a direction perpendicular to the feeding direction (marked by an arrow) of the color original 17A red, green and blue filter are formed respectively to the photodetector arrays 15A, 15B and 15C at the surface of the photodetectors. The red, green and blue filters 15R, 15G and 15B are formed in parallel and in a strip form so as to the photodetector elements 15a, 15b and 15c in the photodetector element arrays 15A, 15B and 15C. Thus, the photodetector arrays 15A, 15B and 15C separate the reflected light to produce a resistance change and the content of the color original 17 is read by extracting the resistance change as an electric signal.
