PURPOSE:To raise the outputs of engine by enhancing the efficiency of cooling by cooling suction air by utilizing great heat of evaporation due to reduced pressure boiling of a refrigerant in an intercooler device to cool pressure suction air from a supercharger. CONSTITUTION:An intercooler 27 to cool high-temperature compressed air discharged from the compressor of a supercharger is formed by connecting the right and left-handed inlet tanks 29 and the outlet tank 30 in the device 28 by many air tubes 31 horizontally extended. A cooling jacket 34 is formed on the outside the air tubes 31 between both the tanks 29 and 30. The jacket 34 is filled with a regrigerant (cooling water) to be cooled and condensed by a condenser 37, and the evaporation space 35 above the jacket 34 is connected to the condenser 37 through a vapor path 36. An auxiliary tank 45 filled with a liquid refrigerant is also provided connectedly through a suction pump 53 to the cooling system of the enclosed circuit constitution. |
