摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain the recording density higher than the recording density of a magnetic tape and optomagnetic disc by sandwiching a laminate consisting of an electrochromic layer having a memory function, thin film layer having electrical C-axis anisotropy in the thickness direction and photoelectric conversion layer in this order between a pair of electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A glass base plate 1, a transparent electrode 2, an amorphous photoconductor layer such as amorphous silicon, a thin film layer 4 having electrical C-axis anisotropy such as ZnO (the C-axis thereof faces the film thickness direction), solid state electrochromic (EC) layers 5-7 (a reduction color developing EC layer 5 consisting of WO3, etc., an insulator layer 6 such as ZrO2, an oxidation color developing EC layer 7 such as Cr2O3) and transparent electrode 8 are laminated as shown in the figure. Cr2O3 or the like which induces EC reaction but is not so much large in fluctuation in the DC conductivity and refractive index of the film is suitable for the layer 7. The thicknesses of the respective layers are made 1mum for the layer 3, 0.2mum for the layer 4, 0.15mum for the layer 5, 0.1mum for the layer 6 and about 0.4mum for the layer 7.
