PURPOSE:To manufacture an uncontaminated Ti alloy powder of irregular forms having an uniform and fine structure by pouring the melt of a high Ti alloy on a disc of a material having low thermal conductivity revolving at a high speed in an inactive or a reducing gas atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:An alloy contg. >=20wt% Ti is poured on a disk of a material having low thermal conductivity revolving at a high speed in an inactive or a reducing gas atmosphere, and atomized by utilizing centrifugal force. The atomized and scattered molten drops are quenched at an ultrahigh speed in said atmosphere, and the Ti alloy powder of irregular forms having an uniform and fine structure without any contaminations due to the pickup of oxygen. In said method, the thermal conductivity of the disk material is preferably regulated to <=0.24cal/cm.sec. deg.C, and the atmospheric gases such as H2 and He having >=1X10<-4>cal/cm.sec. deg.C thermal conductivity are preferable. And the molten alloy is suitably poured on the disk at a temp. <=150 deg.C higher than the m.p. of the alloy.
