PURPOSE:To provide an electrode wire for wire-cut electric spark machining consisting of prescribed percentages of Zn and B and the balance Cu, having a high machining speed during electric spark machining, giving superior dimensional accuracy and surface properties to an article to be mechined, and workable easily into a fine wire. CONSTITUTION:This electrode wire for wire-cut electric spark machining consists of 30-40wt% Zn, 0.05-2wt% B and the balance Cu. Zn is effective in increasing the machining speed and contributes toward improving the strength of the alloy wire. B combined with Zn reduces the sticking of the electrode to an article to be machined and increases the machining speed. It also improves the strength and gives easily linearity without reducing the strength. Accordingly, the electric spark machining speed is increased, and the dimensional accuracy and work efficiency are remarkably improved.
