PURPOSE:The titled base material such as clutch facing, etc. free from asbestos, having improved shudder resistance, friction characteristics, etc., obtained by twisting organic fibers coated with wear-resistant powder to give single yarn, twisting it with glass fibers and a metal which have undergone bulky processing. CONSTITUTION:Organic fibers (e.g., cotton, rayon fiber, polyamide-imide fiber, etc.) attached to wear-resistant powder consisting of a cured resin of alkyl phenol, etc. or dispersed into the resin are twisted to give single yarn, which is twisted together with glass fibers and a metal (e.g., brass, zinc, etc.) which have undergone bulky processing, to give the desired base material. An amount of wear-resistant powder is preferably 6-50wt% based on the yarn obtained by the twisting. |
