PURPOSE:To prepare a mixed coal/petroleum fuel having a high coal concn. with reduced power consumption, by pulverizing coal in two steps and mixing heavy fuel oil and a dispersant into it when necessary. CONSTITUTION:Coal is crushed in a crusher 1 and heavy fuel oil and, when necessary, about 0.0001-2.0wt% (based on the coal) dispersant are added to a part of crushed coal. The mixt. is conditioned to a coal concn. of about 10- 55wt% and is fed into a first-step grinder 2 for pulverization to such an extent that particles smaller than 200 mesh in size may account for about 50-100wt%. A remaining portion of the crushed coal and heavy fuel oil and, when necessary, about 0.0001-2.0wt% (based on the coal) additive are added to the pulverized mixt. coming out of the first-step grinder 2. The mixt. is conditioned to a coal concn. of about 40-80wt% and is fed into a second-step grinder 3 for pulverization to such an extent that particles smaller than 200 mesh may account for 50- 100wt%.
