PURPOSE:To provide the warm feeling of wood to the surface of Al by forming a colored pattern of the grain of wood on the surface and coating translucent paint. CONSTITUTION:A colored pattern of the grain of wood is formed on the surface of Al by a conventional method, and translucent paint is coated. Acrylic resin, melamine resin or other resin soluble in water or an org. solvent is used as the vehicle of the paint. The vehicle is mixed with about 0.1-10wt/solid % one or more kinds of pigments each having >=about 1.7 refractive index such as lithopone, white lead, yellow iron oxide and zinc white in accordance with the desired color tone of the pattern, and a matting agent and other additives are optionally added to prepare said translucent paint. This paint is coated to about 5-30mum thickness to obtain a product having the subtle color tone of natural wood.
