PURPOSE:To enable two kinds of media to be sorted even when only one stacker is provided, by a method wherein when the result of reading an identification mark is unacceptable, a medium is discharged to a stacker, followed by processing according to the mode set by a mode-setting means for setting a stopping mode or a continuing mode. CONSTITUTION:A mode-setting means is provided for setting stopping mode, in which a printer is stopped after discharging a medium to a stacker and an operator is informed of the condition, or the continuing mode in which the medium is discharged to the stacker and the subsequent processing is continued, when the result of reading the identification mark printed on the medium such as a ledger and a cut paper is unacceptable. When the result of reading the mark is acceptable, the processing is continued. |
