PURPOSE:To print a zip code number accurately within printing borders irrespectively of the kind of a medium, by a method wherein the right end of a medium such as a postcard and an envelope is discriminated, the positions of borders for printing the zip code number are calculated with the right end as a reference, and the number is printed. CONSTITUTION:A printing head 9 is provided with a sensor 8, a platen part 7 is black colored, and the head 9 is moved in X-direction as the medium 10 is loaded. When the right end of the medium 10 is detected, the borders for writing in the zip code number which are determined to predetermined dimensions respectively from the upper end and form the right end of the medium are calculated, and the zip code number is printed within the relevant borders by the head 9. |
