PURPOSE:To prevent mistake due to poor adhesion and wrong positioning by forming a pressing means not applying force at the point of time for fitting a process unit to the main body of an apparatus, and interlocking adhesion and positioning of the parts to be used in low frequency with insertion of the unit. CONSTITUTION:When a process unit is inserted into the main body of an apparatus, the cover 21 of a developing device contacts with a pressing roller 41, an electrostatic charge retaining plate 19 undergoes downward force, locking members 19a, 19b are engaged, and a photosensitive drum 3 is held in a normal position. When the process unit is perfectly inserted into the main body, since the roller 41 is located between the plate 19 and a part 17a1 of a frame front side plate 17a, and an arm 44 does not contact with the cover 21 and the plate 17a, application force for setting the drum 3 at a normal position is not exerted, friction resisting force is suppressed to the min. limit at the fitting position, and the operability of the process unit is enhanced. |
