PURPOSE:To butt-weld a thin plate material with a high accuracy by cutting diagonally the end part of the thin plate material, shifting its cut end faces in the plate width direction each other, butting them, and thereafter, energizing them in the direction for eliminating the shift, and executing an electric conduction, when butt-welding the thin plate material. CONSTITUTION:A welding end face of thin plates 7, 8 to be butt-welded is cut diagonally, and fixed by fixing members 1, 3. In this case, cut end faces 7a, 8a are shifted in the plate width direction each other and butted, and set so that its overlapped part S becomes smaller than a cut length L. Subsequently, a pressure P of the plate width direction is applied to the fixing member 3 through a rod 5, and the thin plates 7, 8 are energized in the direction for eliminating the shift each other. In this state, when an electric conduction is executed to both the thin plates 7, 8 by a transformer 11, they are heated to a high temperature by a resistance heat, since a resistance of the overlapped part S becomes high locally in advance, butt end parts 7b, 8b become a burr and are extruded, and the thin plate material is not deformed but can be butt-welded with a high welding strength. |
