PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording memory which permits recording with low energy and has substantial reflectivity in the stage of reproduction by providing a recording layer consisting of a material of which the compsn. changes when light energy is irradiated thereto and of which the reflectivity changes when light is irradiated thereto on a transparent base plate. CONSTITUTION:A recording medium 6 consisting of Si2Te3 is provided on a transparent base plate 1 consisting of polymethacrylate, etc. and a pair of such base plates with the media 6 faced on the inside are sealed to sandwich a low pressure air layer 7 therebetween by using a sealing material 8, thereby manufacturing a double-sided optical recording memory. A laser beam 3 is condensed by a condenser lens 4 to form about 1mu pit 5. The medium 6 is decomposed by the low laser output of <=1mW to deposit Te of high reflectivity. The part where the laser beam is not irradiated is held red and transparent. If GaTe is used for the medium 6, the part irradiated with the beam is blackened and has the reflectivity lower than the reflectivity in the part where the beam is not irradiated. The memory permitting writing with the low light energy is thus obtd. |
