PURPOSE:To prevent cambering of a strip by switching a mandrel to a speed control from a current control after a strip tail has passed through a finish stand, also controlling a pressing force of a pinch roll, and controlling a slip quantity. CONSTITUTION:A strip speed operating part 30 calculates a speed of a strip 21 and a coil diameter of the time point when a strip tail has passed through a finish stand 27, and a speed controlling circuit 31 sets its calculated value as a feedback quantity, and switches the present current control to a speed control. As a result, a strip speed is given irrespective of a slip of a pinch roll 22 and held at a speed following a command. On the other hand, the pinch roll 22 is controlled by a current controlling circuit 36 so as to secure a tension required for winding the strip, and simultaneously a pressing force of the pinch roll 22 is controlled, and a slip control of the pinch roll 22 is executed.
