OPERATING METHOD OF COPPER CONVERTER OR CYLINDRICAL COPPER REFINING FURNACE

PURPOSE:To prevent clogging of a gas blowing tuyere and to prevent the damage of the bricks around the tuyere by regulating the flow rate of the gas to be blown into the melt in a copper converter or cylindrical copper refining furnace at a high speed above the prescribed value under adequate blasting pressure. CONSTITUTION:The flow rate of the gas for oxidation or reduction to be blown into the melt in a copper converter or cylindrical copper refining furnace at the top end of the tuyere thereof is regulated at >=1 Mach flow rate (Nm/sec) in a standard state and the blasting pressure is made 2-3.5kg/cm<2> in the operation of said furnace. the number of blow-back in the tuyere is thus considerably decreased by which the clogging of the tuyere is prevented. The need for a punching device is eliminated particularly with the copper converter, thus the initial and labor costs are reduced. The damage of bricks around the tuyere is prevented and the cost for repairing the furnace is economized.
