In a steering and ignition lock, a rotational body is rotatably mounted in a lock housing. By rotating the rotational body, the steering and ignition lock can be moved into the individual working positions. At the same time, the rotational body is assigned a retainer which can be moved out of the locked position into the release position by inserting an electronic key into a key receptacle of the rotational body. By pulling out the electronic key from the key receptacle, the retainer is moved out of the release position into the locked position. The retainer which is formed by a bolt and is displaceably mounted in the lock housing and, in the locked position, engages with its free end in a closing opening of the rotational body is moved with an adjustment device operated with an electronic control pulse from the locked position into the release position and from the release position into the locked position and held in the two limit positions without continuous current.
