Apparatus for forming a channel, e.g. a trench, in the ground, which contains a frame which can be connected with the front end to a propulsion and drive device, an abrasive shoe connected to the rear end of the frame and having longitudinal walls ending in cutting edges at the front side and diverging to the top, a drive shaft which extends in the longitudinal direction, can be coupled to the drive device and is rotatably mounted on the frame, and a rotor which is attached to the drive shaft at a point in front of the cutting edges, can be driven in a rotary manner by the drive shaft in one direction of rotation, is provided with shovels and removes earth. According to the invention, a second rotor is rotatably attached to the frame transversely to and in front of the first rotor and, rotating by means of a transmission, is connected to the drive shaft in a drivable manner, the second rotor being arranged in such a way that an end cutting surface determined by the rotor during operation lies transversely to the axis of rotation at least virtually in the plane of the longitudinal wall, which is located on the side of the frame where the shovels of the first rotor move upwards during operation. <IMAGE>
