A rotor for a synchronous electric motor includes a plurality of first magnetic poles (19) which are formed by disposing a plurality of permanent magnets on the outer peripheral surface of a yoke (18) secured to a rotatable motor shaft (14), the magnets being spaced in the circumferential direction. Second magnetic poles (18a) radially project from the yoke (18) adjacent to the first magnetic poles (19) in such a manner that two adjacent first and second magnetic poles are paired. The magnetic pole surface configuration of each of the second magnetic poles (18a) is determined such that the magnetic flux distribution obtained by a pair of first and second magnetic poles (19), (18a) is substantially equivalent to the sinusoidal distribution in the magnetic effect of the magnetic flux passed by the armature winding for each phase on a stator (11).
|
