PURPOSE:To perform good reading of color picture with simple constitution by composing a color resolution optical system permitting easy positioning and a signal processing circuit for separating its output signals into colors electrically. CONSTITUTION:The device gives passing light of a dichroic mirror 6 to a line image sensor 7, and also a filter 8 with reflection light to a sensor 9. The sensor 9 is equipped with a red R filter 8 at each picture element. By this action, a sensor 7 reads only picture information of green G components, reads picture information of red R components in the section where the filter 9 of the sensor 9 is passed, and reads picture information of magenta M components at the section where the filter 8 is not passed. This optical system reads picture information by repeated combination of each color component of green G and red R, and green G and magenta M by picture element unit. An output signal of a sensor 7 is outputted as a green signal SG through a white balance circuit 11 in a signal processing circuit 10, and output signals from the sensor 7 are outputted as red signal SR and blue signal SB from a circuit 11 by sample holding circuits 12 and 14, and an operation circuit 13.
