PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of stains on a reading picture due to invasion of dust or dirt and of strange noises between contact glass and guide members by providing a seal layer between the guide members of a picture reading device and contact glass in a facsimile device. CONSTITUTION:A contact glass sheet 6 has rectangular cross section and is formed as a slender and rectangular glass sheet. A seal layer 10 is given to seal between the reverse face of a contact glass 6 fixed by being inserted in a bent part 1a of a guide sheet 1 and the bottom face of the bent part 1a of the circumference of an opening part 1b. Therefore, the layer 10 blocks further invasion of dust 9 when the dust 9 comes between the side face of the glass 6 and the side face of the bending part 1a at the time of reading. The seal layer 10 hinders the dust 9 from passing through between the reverse face of the glass 6 and the bottom face of the bent part and from falling as shown by arrows B and C in the figure.
