In a boom as a floating body, provision is made for scoop openings to be arranged in the barrage wall side for scooping up the oil, which scoop openings lead to an inner space and run with a return line for water. This inner space accommodates a vacuum line in the form of a suction tube which in turn has slots distributed over its length in the area of the oil/water level. A two-stage separating process is thereby achieved and the water portion of the discharged mixture is kept relatively low.
