PURPOSE:To perform fine adjustement for a tilt angle as well as to let a seat have a degree of mechanical strength, by forming a tilt adjusting mechanism on the top of a seat back into a four-bar linkage system. CONSTITUTION:A seat 1 consists of a seat cushion 2 and a seat back 3 via a reclining device, while an upper part 3a of the seat back 3 is tiltable in design. A back frame gear is divided into two parts, namely, an upper frame 5 and a lower frame 6, and a lower end part of this lower frame 6 is coupled with the seat cushion 3. An arm 7 is tightly attached to a lower part of the upper frame 5 at one side part 7a, and another side part 7b is projected forward, forming a part of four-bar linkage. A bracket 9a is tightly attached to the top of the lower frame 6 and pivoted together with the arm 7 whereby a spring 11 is stretched over between both. In addition, an adjustable engaging mechanism 12 is installed in the lower part of the lower frame 6 in a manner conformable to the arm 7 of the upper frame 5.
