PURPOSE:To prepare a corresponding dicarboxylic acid from an n-paraffin, a fatty acid or its derivative, by using a novel bacterium belonging to the genus Mycobacterium. CONSTITUTION:A bacterium such as Mycobacterium sp, KSM-B-33 (FERM-P 7310) belonging to the genus Mycobacterium, capable of converting an n-paraffin, fatty acid or its derivative into a corresponding dicarboxylic acid, is cultivated aerobically by the use of the n-normal paraffin, fatty acid or its derivative as a reaction substrate at 40-50 deg.C at 6.5-8pH under aerobic conditions for 3-5 days, and a corresponding dicarboxylic acid is collected from the culture solution. |
