Hitherto, it was only possible to test the strength of bundles of laminations after the rotor had been taken out. With the present invention, it is possible to make a quality assessment of the degree of compression of the bundle of laminations with the rotor installed. This device is furthermore of very simple construction and is introduced into the air gap of the machine, whereupon the measuring jaws are used to grip behind the bundles of laminations via the radial gaps. The testing device comprises a rotor (4) in which a pin (5) is arranged. Both the tube (4) and the pin (5) have measuring jaws (6, 7) which grip behind the bundles (2) of laminations. The pin (5) is moved via a two-way valve (8) by means of a double-acting piston (9). A travel dial gauge (10) is provided for the movement of the piston (9). A pressure-measuring device (12) is inserted in the feed line (11) leading to the two-way valve (8). <IMAGE>
