In a wall shelf for fitted kitchens, which is provided, in particular, for installation in recesses, the horizontal resting surface of the wall shelf has a shelf rear wall pointing vertically upwards for attaching and supporting the shelf on the wall. Accommodated in the rear wall of the shelf are electric switches, sockets, connection cables and the like. The wall shelf is of approximately L-shaped or Z-shaped construction. The advantage of a wall shelf constructed in this manner lies in the increase in the useful function and the provision of more favourable workplace conditions in fitted kitchens.
