PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound easily in high yield without forming by- products, by reacting pentachloropyridine with a fluorinating agent in benzonitrile as a solvent under given conditions to exchange halogens. CONSTITUTION:Pentachloropyridine is reacted with a fluorinating agent, particularly preferably potassium fluoride, in benzonitrile as a solvent at 300-400 deg.C, preferably 330-380 deg.C under autogenous pressure conditions to give the aimed compound. In the case of potassium fluoride, the molar amount thereof to be used is preferably 5 times or more, particularly within 5-10 times range based on one mole pentachloropyridine. The amount of the raw material pentachloropyridine to be used is preferably within about 5-50pts.wt. range based on 100pts.wt. solvent. A phase transfer catalyst may be present in the above-mentioned reaction system, and dibenzo-18-crown-6-ether, etc. may be used.
