PURPOSE:To open a front cover smoothly, to give no damage on a tape even in a small-sized tape cartridge and to open and operate the front cover securely by forming an abutting guide face at an internal face of a front plate in a front declining slop surface. CONSTITUTION:Notches 14 are formed at horizontal outer sides of respective tape leading ports 11 at right and left sides on a front face of a case main body 1. An abutting guide face 13 is formed in a groove-shape on an interior of a front plate 6 opposed to each notch 14. The abutting guide face 13 is formed on a front declining and straight line slope surface from the upper end of the front plate 6 to a lower end face 6a. When a cartridge is mounted in the horizontal attitude on a holder at the deck side, the holder descends to a load position, a cover opening member P moves relatively upward along the abutting guide face 13, and opens and operates a front cover 5 slowly. At this time, since the abutting guide face 13 shakes and moves in the condition in which it is away from the cover opening member P; therefore there is no place which is protruding and catching between both members 13 and P, and the front cover opens smoothly.
