PURPOSE:The titled composition useful for providing a filter having a small a amount of extracted material with hot water and improved water resistance, comprising a resin derived from a specific polyhydric hydroxyphenyl compound and an epoxy resin. CONSTITUTION:The desired composition comprising (A) a resin obtained by reacting (i) a compound [e.g., bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ether, etc.] containing two or more phenyl groups having one or more hydroxyl groups with (ii) a substance (e.g., formalin, etc.) to provide formaldehyde in the presence of an alkali catalyst, and (B) an epoxy resin (e.g., polyoxyalkylene bisphenol A glycidyl ether compound, etc.) as essential components.
