PURPOSE:To improve the utilization efficiency of a catalyst and the yield of an oxygen-containing compound having high utilization value, and to mitigate the reaction condition in the production of the titled compound by the reaction of carbon monoxide with hydrogen in the presence of a rhodium compound as a catalyst, by using a benzotriazole compound in combination with the catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound can be produced by reacting carbon monoxide with hydrogen at 50-350 deg.C and 2,000-1kg/cm<2>G pressure in the presence of a rhodium compound catalyst in combination with a benzotriazole compound. The molar ratio of the supplied carbon monoxide to the hydrogen gas is preferably 20-0.05. The benzotriazole compound is preferably the compound of formula (R1-R6 are H or arbitrary substituent group; when one of R1 and R2 is substituent group, the other is H; the pairs of R1 and R6, R3 and R4, R4 and R5, or R5 and R6 may together form a bivalent hydrocarbon group, etc.), e.g. 1-methylbenzotriazole, etc. |
